ASTHA-A is a combination oral syrup designed for the management of respiratory conditions, particularly those involving airway constriction and mucus production, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and bronchitis. The syrup combines three active ingredients: levosalbutamol, ambroxol, and guaifenesin, each working synergistically to relieve symptoms like wheezing, coughing, and difficulty breathing.
Route of Administration: Oral syrup.
Typical dose for adults: 10 ml (containing 2 mg levosalbutamol, 60 mg ambroxol, 100 mg guaifenesin) 2-3 times daily, or as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
Typical dose for children (age 2-12 years): 5-10 ml (depending on the age and weight of the child) 2-3 times daily.
Administration: Shake the bottle well before use. Measure the dose using the provided dosing cup or spoon, and take orally. It may be taken with or without food.>
Cardiovascular Disease: Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that may cause an increase in heart rate or palpitations. Caution is advised in patients with a history of heart disease.
Hypertension: Use cautiously in patients with high blood pressure as levosalbutamol may cause transient increases in blood pressure.
Diabetes: Levosalbutamol may affect blood sugar levels. Monitor blood sugar closely if you have diabetes.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use during pregnancy should be done under medical supervision, especially in the first trimester. Levosalbutamol is excreted in breast milk in small amounts, so consult a healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
Gastrointestinal Issues: Ambroxol and guaifenesin may cause mild gastrointestinal upset in some individuals. If nausea or discomfort occurs, take the syrup with food.
Hypersensitivity: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levosalbutamol, ambroxol, guaifenesin, or any other components of the syrup.
Severe Cardiovascular Disorders: Contraindicated in individuals with severe cardiovascular conditions, particularly in those with severe arrhythmias or uncontrolled hypertension.
Severe Liver or kidney disease: Caution is advised for patients with liver or kidney impairment.
Bronchodilation: Levosalbutamol (a beta-2 adrenergic agonist) helps relax the muscles of the airways, leading to bronchodilation and easier breathing.
Mucolytic Action: Ambroxol helps to break down mucus, making it thinner and easier to expel, improving respiratory function.
Expectorant Effect: Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps loosen and thin mucus in the airways, facilitating its removal through coughing.
Fast Relief: The combination of bronchodilator, mucolytic, and expectorant properties offers rapid relief from symptoms like wheezing, chest congestion, and difficulty breathing.
Convenient Liquid Form: The syrup formulation is easy to administer, especially for children or those who have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules.
