Sylotran-SR
Sylotran-SR is a synthetic derivative of lysine used as an antifibrinolytic in the treatment and prevention of major bleeding. It is used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding in women. It is an antifibrinolytic agent. It works by blocking the breakdown of blood clots, which prevents bleeding.

Indication
Sylotran -Sr is indicated for:
- the treatment of hereditary angioedema
- cyclic heavy menstrual bleeding in premenopausal females
- hyperfibrinolysis.
Dosage and Administration
• Patients with normal renal function
- Recommended dose -1300 mg orally three times daily
- Total daily dose - 3900 mg/day
• Patients with renal impairment with serum creatinine concentration higher than 1.4 mg/Dl
- Recommended dose -1300 mg orally two times daily
- Total daily dose - 2600 mg/day
• Patients with renal impairment with serum creatinine concentration higher than 2.8 mg/dL
- Recommended dose -1300 mg orally once daily
- Total daily dose - 1300 mg/day
• Patients with renal impairment with serum creatinine concentration higher than 5.7 mg/dL
- Recommended dose -650 mg orally once daily
- Total daily dose - 650 mg/day
Sylotran -Sr should be administered for a maximum of 5 days during monthly menstruation.
Precautions
- Allergy: Avoid if allergic to tranexamic acid or its components; may cause rashes or difficulty breathing.
- Renal Impairment: Use with caution in kidney patients; dose adjustments may be necessary.
- Thromboembolic Disorders: Increases risk of blood clots; avoid if you have a history of clotting disorders.
Contraindications
- Thromboembolic Disorders: Contraindicated in patients with a history of or current blood clots (e.g., DVT, PE, stroke).
- Hypersensitivity: Avoid in patients allergic to tranexamic acid or any of its components.
- Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: Contraindicated in patients with or at risk of subarachnoid hemorrhage.
